Kabul Urges US to Respect Rights of Afghans Facing Deportation

Meanwhile, AfghanEvac has urged the US government to cancel the planned deportation of these Afghans.

he Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, responding to reports of the possible deportation of Afghan migrants from the United States to Pakistan, has called for respect for their rights and coordination with Kabul.

The ministry emphasized that decisions concerning Afghan citizens must be made in accordance with the law and with respect for their human dignity.

Zia Ahmad Takal, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “The Islamic Emirate calls on the United States to adopt a responsible and measured approach to this matter and ensure that any decisions or actions concerning Afghan citizens are made through clear bilateral understanding, necessary coordination, and respect for the rights and legitimate demands of those affected.”

Meanwhile, AfghanEvac has urged the US government to cancel the planned deportation of these Afghans.

The organization’s president described their transfer to Pakistan as unacceptable and expressed concern over the potential consequences.

Shawn VanDiver, President of AfghanEvac, said the organization is working with the international community and various groups in the United States to prevent the deportation flight. He added that they are mobilizing members of Congress and working with senators and representatives to stop the flight, although the outcome remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, migrant rights activists say each individual’s legal status must be reviewed separately before any deportation order is issued.

Abdul Raziq Adil, Migrant Rights Activist, said: “Transferring Afghan migrants from the United States to Pakistan will not resolve their residency issues. Instead, it will create a new humanitarian and legal crisis. From a legal and security perspective, Pakistan is not a safe place for Afghan asylum seekers because it is not a party to the Refugee Convention and has recently implemented policies to deport migrants.”

Earlier, US media reported that more than 150 Afghan migrants had been detained in the United States and were facing possible deportation.

According to these reports, the first flight carrying these Afghans to Pakistan could take place on November 3.
