Jeffrey Grieco, President of the Afghanistan–US Joint Chamber of Commerce and Investment, says the main objectives of his visits are to promote economic stability, attract investment, and boost economic growth in Afghanistan.

In an interview with TOLOnews, Grieco said that security has been established in Afghanistan and called on Afghan-American investors to invest in the country.

Jeffrey Grieco, President of the Afghanistan–US Joint Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “Our primary focus is on stabilizing the economy, increasing private sector investment in Afghanistan, attracting investors, and facilitating investment opportunities for them.”

He also said that the US government remains active in Afghanistan and continues to support the country through United Nations agencies.

Grieco stated: “The US government is still active in Afghanistan. We continue our activities through UN agencies such as UNICEF and the World Food Programme, and we provide more funding to these agencies than to similar organizations elsewhere in the world.”

Grieco cited human rights restrictions as one of the main reasons for the lack of foreign investment in Afghanistan, adding that he has raised this issue during his meetings with officials of the Islamic Emirate.

He said: “There are many reasons, but what I tell Taliban officials during our meetings is that when you restrict the rights of half of society, no investor in the world will be willing to invest.”

He added that American investors are interested in investing in Afghanistan’s oil and gas, mining and minerals, and textile industries, provided that the current situation changes.
