Mujahid: We Want Wartime Policies to Change and Good Relations With US

In another part of the interview, Mujahid said the Islamic Emirate does not want war in the region.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has told an Indian media outlet that the current government wants wartime policies to change and seeks good relations with the United States.

Mujahid added that the Islamic Emirate wants the US Embassy in Kabul and the Afghan Embassy in Washington to resume operations, and diplomatic relations between the two countries to be normalized.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “Afghanistan wants good relations, and we want wartime policies to change. We want the US Embassy to resume operations in Afghanistan, our embassy in Washington to resume its activities, and normal diplomatic relations between the two countries to be restored.”

In another part of the interview, Mujahid said the Islamic Emirate does not want war in the region and will not support one country against another, including Pakistan.

Mujahid said agreements among Islamic countries are not a cause for concern, adding that such agreements are based on countries’ interests and benefit the Islamic world.

Zabihullah Mujahid added: “This does not cause us concern because these countries make agreements based on their own interests. Saudi Arabia’s security is important. Türkiye and Pakistan are also important Islamic countries. If they reach an agreement on an issue, we view it as cooperation among Islamic countries, and overall, it benefits the Islamic world. This does not threaten us because we have no hostility toward any of these countries. As I said earlier, the recent aggression was initiated by Pakistan, but we consider it a local issue. We want this matter to be resolved. None of these countries is our enemy.”

Wahid Faqiri, an international relations analyst, said: “Every government needs to have better relations with neighboring countries as well as other countries. This is the strength of diplomacy. However, disagreements sometimes arise, and countries must also manage those differences.”

Regarding the recognition of the Islamic Emirate, Mujahid said the decision depends on the conditions and interests of each country, adding that Kabul has formal relations with a number of countries in the region.
